What is deColourant®?

deColourant® is a totally NEW product, unlike anything else on the market today. deColourant® is a specially formulated creme that removes the dyed color from natural fibers.

What is deColourant Plus®?

deColourant Plus® is deColourant® creme with dyes and pigments already added. In a single pass, deColourant Plus® both removes the dyed color from natural fibers and replaces that color with the deColourant Plus pigment.

What is deColourant SP®?

deColourant SP® is deColourant® specifically formulated for Screen Printers. It is designed to work correctly in commercial screen printing equipment. All colors of deColourant and deColourant Plus are available in the deColourant SP formulation.

How is deColourant® and deColourant Plus® packaged?

deColourant® is available in 8oz bottles, 4oz Spray, 1 gallon jars, and larger quantities for commercial use.
deColourant Plus® is available in 2.5oz botles, Assortment Packs, 8oz bottles, 1 gallon jars, and larger quantities for commercial use.
deColourant SP® is available in 8oz bottles, 1 gallon jars, 5gal pails, and larger quantities for commercial use.

When will deColourant®, deColourant Plus®, and deColourant SP® ship?

All are available and shipping now

Is deColourant® safe?

deColourant® is non-toxic and safe for use without special precautions. It is safe for use by children (with adult supervision, of course!)
Like any product, normal safety precautions should be followed. Do not ingest it, leave it for prolonged periods on your skin, inhale it, or get it in your eyes. deColourant can be washed out with plain water.

How does deColourant® work?

deColourant® is inert until heat is applied. Nothing happens until deColourant is heated. You can apply it, wash it out, etc without activating deColourant.
deColourant® responds to heat. The more heat, the more deColourant activates.
When you are done, wash out any remaining deColourant and the process is stopped at the level of color removal desired.

deColourant can be applied using a brush, stencil, rubber stamp, or silk screen. Multiple designs can be layered until the finished effect is achieved. deColourant is not activated until heat is applied, so any "mistakes" can be washed out with no effect. Once the design is completed, apply heat to the deColourant, using an iron, hot air gun, etc.
When heated, deColourant loosens the bonds between the dye and the natural fiber, so the undyed color remains. With deColourant Plus, the color bond is broken and then a new bond is created firmly affixing the new Plus colors to the natural fiber. Effectively, this re-dyes the fibers in place, in a simple one-step non-messy process. The more heat applied, the more deColourant is activated, the greater the color change. When the desired color change has been achieved, simply wash out any remaining deColourant. The natural fibers are now permanently changed, either de-colored or re-colored, and no more color change will happen.

How does deColourant® compare to other products on the market?

deColourant® is based on the concept of "discharging" color. The color is removed ("discharged") when heat is applied. Traditionally, discharging has been done thru a concoction of chemical compounds, mixed by the end user. These compounds usually emit strong chemical vapors, require special handling, and have short shelf lives. There is one commercial discharging product on the market, and it is only available as a strong smelling, lumpy paste.
  • deColourant is not a paint. Paints typically leave fabrics stiff and inflexible, are subject to cracking and peeling, and will lose their vibrancy over time
  • deColourant is not a dye. Dyes require messy "baths" and followup washing
  • deColourant is a delivery system which penetrates the fibers of the fabric and chemically changes the bond between the fibers and the fabric coloring
